Rovinj (Istriot: Ruvèigno or Ruveîgno; Italian: Rovigno, Ancient greek: Ryginion, Ρυγίνιον) is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 14,294 (as of 2011). Located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, it is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. Istriot, a Romance language once widely spoken in this part of Istria, is still spoken by some of the residents.

Croatia (i/krˈʃə/ kroh-AY-shə; Croatian: Hrvatska pronounced [xř̩ʋaːtskaː]), officially the Republic of Croatia (Croatian: Republika Hrvatska  listen), is a unitary democratic parliamentary republic in Europe at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean. The country's population is 4.28 million, most of whom are Croats, with the most common religious denomination being Roman Catholicism.
