Heading for "Pillow Rock".
White Water Rafting on the Upper Gauley River during one of the two month long dam releases of the Summersville Dam. I'm on the back right side of the raft, in front of the guide, with a baseball cap on.
This is the first major Class V on the Upper Gauley run called "Insignificant". We were tracking great into this rapid and hit "Pillow Rock" full. Unfortunately, after we dropped in the "toilet bowl" at the base of the rock we dumped most of the paddlers on the left side of the boat and both of our bow paddlers. It made for an interesting run!

Rafting or white water rafting is the challenging recreational outdoor activity of using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. The development of this activity as a leisure sport has become popular since the mid-1970s. It is considered an extreme sport, as it can be dangerous.
