"In his speech Tuesday, Obama vowed that education is among the top priorities of his administration and urged Americans to take advantage of the promise of an education.
"In a global economy, where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity. It is a prerequisite," he said.
"It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work, but it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it." he said.
"So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. This can be a community college or a four-year school, vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma." To me OBAMA is saying "take education personally, get some more!" Where President Kennedy called on us to do something for our country, President Obama calls on us to do something for ourselves which will in turn make our country richer and a more fun place to be! We may even be able to bring benefit to others!
But as one of the managers at the UW wrote me:
"Noble call, now we just have to see if there will be financial aid to help everyone do this-- that's going to be the major stumbling block for most people in these times, as you yourself can attest.. Here's hoping that piece of the stimulus package actually gets to the people that need it!!"
It's a case of SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Revivalism in architecture is the use of visual styles that consciously echo the style of a previous architectural era.
There were a number of architectural revivalist movements in the United States in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
