Cupcake Bowl XLI
photo by Joe Shlabotnik on Flickr
We brought 22 cupcakes (11 Bears, 11 Colts) to a Super Bowl party. Not only did we make them entirely from scratch (I made the cupcakes, Sue made the frosting), but we couldn't find separate red, white, and blue sprinkles, so we bought rainbow sprinkles (that is, red, white, and blue mixed together) and separated them (which is as much of a pain in the butt as it sounds). There are even teddy bears on the Bears cupcake papers and race cars (Indianapolis - get it?) on the Colts cupcake papers. Unfortunately, the patterns don't show up very well against chocolate cupcakes.
Of course, the cupcakes came out yummy, and people at the party were suitably impressed. (They'd darn well better have been, considering it took a huge chunk of the day to make them...)

A cupcake (also British English: fairy cake; Australian English: patty cake or cup cake) is a small cake designed to serve one person, frequently baked in a small, thin paper or aluminum cup. As with larger cakes, frosting and other cake decorations, such as sprinkles, are common on cupcakes.
