SAHRAWI PEOPLE
In English language usage, the term Sahrawi is usually used in reference to populations from the disputed Western Sahara territory, sometimes with a nationalist connotation. The Sahrawis are ethnically a mix of Arabs, Berbers and Black Africans. They inhabit the westernmost Sahara desert, in the area present-day Mauritania, southern Morocco, Western Sahara and extreme southwestern Algeria. As with most Saharan peoples, the tribes reflect a highly mixed heritage, combining Arab, Berber, and other influences, including black African ethnic and cultural characteristics.
