A jet airliner is an airliner that is powered by jet engines. This term is sometimes contracted to jetliner or jet.

First generation jet airliner travel was relativity noisy and fuel inefficient compared to airliner flying today. These inefficiencies were later addressed by the invention of turboprop and turbofan engines.
